Distill made quite a splash at the 2005 Triangle ADDY Awards, capturing five gold awards for advertising excellence in its first ADDY appearance. The two-year-old agency won a total of 11 awards, the second highest number of awards presented to any agency.
The five gold awards recognized Distill's outstanding work for GlaxoSmithKline (sales brochure, direct mail campaign), Art.com (interactive) and a San Francisco non-profit organization (outdoor campaign). The agency also won a gold award for a self-promotional piece.
"We've had quite a run, right out of the gate," said Adam Cohen, Distill's creative director. "The long hours and late nights have been rewarded by more new business than we even anticipated. And the ADDYs are like icing on the cake."
OddFellows, an advertising and design agency that recently merged with Distill, captured an additional 8 Triangle ADDY Awards. With a combined 19 ADDY awards, Distill and OddFellows were the most recognized agency in attendance, surpassing many of the Triangle's oldest and most respected firms.
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) ADDY Awards are the industry's largest competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. Every year approximately 60,000 entries are submitted in local ADDY competitions. The Triangle ADDY awards are presented locally by the Ad Club of the Triangle. Gold award winners will move on to compete in regional and national competitions.
