Sen. John Kerry has tapped Distill, an emerging Raleigh-based advertising agency, to help win Internet-savvy voters in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. The agency is developing a series of banner ads and guerilla email videos targeting swing voters.
The ads will run on several news and political websites, including The Onion and Talking Points Memo, while the humorous videos are designed to spread virally among potential voters of all persuasions.
Distill was invited to pitch for the work after creating a successful banner campaign for Sen. Kerry during the hotly contested Iowa caucuses. It beat out several of the nation's largest interactive agencies for the assignment, including Tribal DDB in New York.
"It's quite a coup to go up against — and beat — those big shops to win the account," said Adam Cohen, creative director at Distill. "When it comes to developing great creative work, we're officially bi-partisan. But it has been exciting to work for Sen. Kerry and play a small role in this year's presidential election."
